Auntie Breeze and Dare were out herding again over the nearby field. No sheep in sight so they had a go at herding something else.
He is black not white like a lot of sheep and was determined not to be herded about the field.
But Auntie Breeze and Dare worked as a brace (pair) So they got Chip under control in the end.
Its funny how they know how to herd as a brace instinctively and with no training. The boss says its years of selective breeding to produce the best sheep herding dogs.
But you can't keep Chip under control for long.

Fascinating! I love to watch the dogs herding sheep on TV programmes. Looks like Chip had the last word, though.
:)
Our two Border girls are a dream to watch when working.
It so amazes me that their vocabulary is immense. I simply say take the horses to the barn and they do. Put the cows up and they do.
It is better than watching ballet.
I would imagine that herding Chip and keeping him in line are tow very diferent and difficult endeavors!
Dogs are so much fun and smart too.
They work beautifully together! I feel a little bad for Chip, though - are they ganging up on him?!?
Love,
Ammy
i love watching herding. love it love it love it. at the irish fair here in st. paul every august, a farmer brings his border collies and a half-dozen sheep. he lets the sheep out and they roam through the fair, and then he whistles the border collie, and he rounds them up and puts them in a little pen.
and then an hour later, they do it again. so charming.
This is so funny. My shelties who are not trained to herd just "know" how and do it to me all the time! I love it!!! Have a blessed day!
Loved the pics. We really enjoy watching pups work, whether herding, sniffing drugs, rescuing etc. Chip is good & both girls are fantastic - doing what they know. Thanks for visiting us. Come again anytime. We will drop by & visit from time to time.

My beloved Mandy was either a border collie or an Austrailian Shepherd. (We were told that her parents were border collies but she was a deep red colour.) When we went to visit my brothers farm we were surprised to see her herding the sheep as she had never seen sheep before. It is born in them. My sister-in-law was not pleased.
I still miss Mandy so much and it has been three years since she left us. I love Brandy but she will never replace Mandy.
