You may be aware that some of us dogs have double coats which make us much hardier and able to cope with extremes of weather and also better protected from the rain, snow, etc.

Hee-hee! My papillon is one of the few types of dogs that does not have a double coat. Just a single coat of hair like a human. What a fancy-pants.
That is so cool! None of the cats in our house have double coats. Momma says that one coat each is plenty enough to clean up after.
