Imber Court

Well after all that touring about it was back to the flyball again this weekend. We were at Imber Court which is quite close to where we live so the car journey there was quick for a change.

I raced with my team Lightning Flash. Not only did we get a fastest ever team time of 18.86 seconds but we also got first place in division four.

This is me calmly waiting for one of the races.

And getting a bit more impatient to start (OK a lot more impatient).

But can you see how my ears go up quite nicely when I bark...

Dares team Lightning Bolts where in the same division as my team and they got third place. Auntie Breeze's team Lightning Sprites got fourth place in division six. Chips team Grease Lightning were in Division 2 and got 3rd place with another fastest ever team time of 18.19 seconds.

This is Chip celebrating afterwards under our car with his tennis ball.

Queen Eleanor

Its amazing what you can come across sometimes when you are out and about in England. We went to Northampton today to do some visiting and we saw this monument on the side of the road when we were nearly there.

We went to have a look to see what it was and it had a plaque saying that it was one of the Eleanor Crosses.

Queen Eleanor was the wife of King Edward the 1st of England who died in Lincoln in 1290. She was brought back to London, a journey which took 12 days and Edward then had Crosses put up on the spots that the procession stopped each night. This is one of the original three that still remain standing.

This is the Eleanor cross a bit closer up.

If we see any more old stuff when we are out and about perhaps we should call this the Old English Shepherd blog!

Wordfull Wednesday

To see a World in a Grain of sand
And Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.

Sunny Weather

It was a great day today for a zoom about. The sun was out but the grass was lovely and cool under paw.

The weather was so nice it put a great big smile on my face.

More from Bidbury Village

These are some more pictures of the visit to Bidbury Village which was said by Victorian artist William Morris, to be the most beautiful village in England.

This is a view down the hill to the Swan hotel.

Some cottages at the top of the hill.

A closer look at the Swan hotel

Some more lovely cottages next the river Coln. The cottage on the right actually had pears on the tree that was growing up its front wall !

And finally another view across the river to those old 16th century weavers cottages

Old England

There has been a little family trip this week (without me!) to the Cotswold's which is a very pretty and old part of England. Apparently you could have taken dogs to the hotel and I would have been good, honest...

This is Bourton-on-the-Water where they stayed the night.

There is a river that runs through the village which is wide but quite shallow. The local vilagers hold a game of football in it each year.

They also went to Stow-on the-Wold. This hotel there called The Royalist, that says it is the oldest hotel in England and has a sign saying 947AD. Now that's old!

This is the town & square with an old stone cross in the middle.

And finally this a village called Bidbury. These are some of its 17th century weavers cottages.

I bet they could tell some stories.

Paws in the Park

There were not many posts last week as it was very rainy so difficult to take pictures, apparently :-(

The weather cleared up on Friday which was good because this weekend we were at another Flyball tournament held in Kent as part of a big Doggie event called Paws in the Park.

It was quite crowded with lots of people and loads of different breeds of dogs walking about together.

There was lots of things to do as well as loads of stalls to buy stuff (for me) from. I got a nice new bed mattress and a squeaky toy.

But back to the Flyball, my team Lightning Flash raced on Sunday in Division 4 and were were in the same Division as Dares team, Lightning Storm.

This is me with some of my teammates, Merlot, Jack and Ruby. They are Border Collies.

And this is me crossing over with Jack in one of the flyball races.

My team came 4th and Dares Team came 2nd in the Division and were very narrowly beaten by Dares team when we raced against each other.

Chip did some other stuff as well as flyball at the show, but more about that soon in another post.

Play time

Chip is always up for a game in the garden and he never seems to run out of steam.

Wrestling is our favourite game

Perhaps its a bit more like Judo with teeth.

Now that's given me a better appetite for my dinner.

Not me

We have a couple of small plant pots sitting on our back lawn. They cover the spots where someone has had a little dig.

And if you have a careful look under some bushes you can see more evidence of mysterious digging.

Now it would be easy to blame Chip who being a Terrier is very partial to a little burrowing.

But of course it has nothing to do with me...
